I know I am in trouble when I check my messages and I hear the school nurse laughing as she tells me "you're going to love this......."
Yes, Patrick was sent home yet again for sticking something in his ear. The story goes like this:
Holly was unavailable so the nurse called Craig.
While stifling laughter, the school nurse calls to say that Patrick has a rock in his ear.
I ask "A rock?"
The nurse, still trying not laugh. "Yes a rock"
She puts Patrick on the phone, so I ask "How did you get a rock in your ear?"
"I was cleaning it"
"
With a ROCK??"
"Yes"
She send Patrick back to class while I call to get a appointment at the doctor. I tell the nurse my son has a rock in his ear. She asks "A rock?" when I say yes, she tries, without success, not laugh.
Once at the doctor, the nurse can't stop laughing while she weighs and takes his tempurature.
The nurse practitioner comes in to remove the rock and of course asks the obvious question. "How did you get a rock in your ear"
Patrick dutifully responds "I was cleaning it"
With complete disbelief (not having met Patrick before) "
WITH A ROCK??"The good news was that it only took a few seconds and $25 to remove. And we get another blog post.
