Having Fun

The kids went back to school today. I am looking through photography books from a friend, she took classes in college. I wish I had thought of that. I am having fun looking through the books and then just going out and playing with the camera. I have to say I just go out and take pictures of things that catch my attention, it my be bunk to everyone else. At least I am having fun.

It was super Foggy this morning when I took the kids to school.

Even though the weather is insane, the trees all think that Spring is here, there are buds everywhere that you look.

This is the peach tree in front of my sister's house. Even though it is now 52 degrees, this ice is in the shade. It refuses to melt away.

These buds are on the very same tree that is housing the ice.

Dyson bought "happy" daisies for his teacher at school. He has been at home sick since he bought them. I decided to play with them.

Ice Day

Yesterday during the morning I got a call that our schools were all closing at 12:30. They wanted all of the kids home safely before the ice hit. We did not get ice until 8 or so, but better safe than sorry I guess. The schools are all closed today, and the kids got up very excited to play in the "snow". Our yard in under about half an inch of ice. The sun is up now, so most of the ice is melting.

Yes, they are still in their pajamas.

Polar Bear Swim

Alison got to go to her first Unit event with Girls Scouts tonight, The Polar Bear Swim. Lucky for us, the pool is indoors and heated, the swim is scheduled in the wintertime, so that is where it gets the name. Ali was cold enough for that, she did not need to run out and swim in cold water and ice.

Waiting in line to get in.

Alison and her Friend Rachel.

Waiting to go on the diving board.

A quick video of Alison going off of the board. If you get the email updates, you will not be able to view, you need to visit the blog for that.

Bonham State Park

The kids had Martin Luther King Day off this year, so we decided to take a day trip. Bonham State Park is a small state park, but very pretty. It was a little chilly and we had pretty much the whole park to ourselves.
There were huge geese and tons of ducks that followed us around where ever we went. They were obviously used to being fed.

When we went to get our bikes off the car, the ducks followed us there, when we went on our bike ride they stayed under and behind the van.
Patrick and Alison playing "Dead" on one of the stone picnic tables in the group area. The group area was awesome, we are thinking about using it for our next scout camp out. Only problem being the sites only have water. Craig and I could do it, but the family style camping of cub scouts is a bit different.
Playing troll under a bridge we found.

Everyone has a little captain in them.

Patrick and Hayden checking out the fishing pier.

I was having a little bit of fun with the camera.

Patrick got a kick out of finding evidence of animals.

I have found Flickr, like I needed any other hobbies. I have been sharing my photos and looking at the photo's of others. But it also has some neat toys to organize and arrange your photo's.

I took pictures of Patrick and Alison and made a mosaic. If you want to view my photostream here is the link.

Pinewood Derby

Our pack had Pinewood Derby this weekend. Patrick, Alison and Daddy made cars this year. We are still Derby Chair this year so we had all of the cars and the track at our house before the race.

Patrick had a great car this year, he chose to make a police car. Alison's car sported her favorite color of course. Daddy just used paint and stickers that we had around.

Patrick placed first place in his den, he made it to the finals. He place third overall in the pack.

Tooth Fairy Oops

Alison lost her 5th tooth yesterday at school. It was so loose it fell out at lunch time when she took a sip of her milk. We had lots of stuff going on last night and I am guessing that the Fairy couple just let the tooth slip their mind.

This morning while I was fixing lunches I heard Alison wailing from the bathroom, she took her tooth pillow in there to look for the money the tooth fairy left her. The tooth was still there, but even worse, it fell out, hit the tile floor and split in two.

I talked to her and told her that the tooth fairy was probably running late, or maybe the freezing weather froze her wings. We also decided that the tooth fairy might be home with sick baby fairies. I also gave her 4 quarters to hold her over.

Patrick told her not to worry because she might think that Alison had two teeth in her pillow and leave 2 dollars.

While Alison was at school, the tardy fairy made her appearance and left a handwritten apology along with a fresh 2 dollar bill.

Alison has now forgiven the tooth fairy, I am still holding a grudge though.
