For our last week of summer, we decided to pack up the kids and drive up to Colorado. We went half way on Friday stopping at a hotel in Amarillo. We got to the hotel at a decent hour and decided to do the tourist thing, so we went out for Dinner at the Big Texan. Ali and Patrick refer to it as "Free Steak" because if you eat this ginormous 72 ounce steak with sides in under an hour, it is free. There were actually two guys that started the challenge while we were there eating.
I have had better steak, but the atmosphere was quite enchanting for Patrick and Ali. Dead animal trophies EVERYWHERE and a band that came through to play country music at your table.
Alison requested "The Camptown Ladies" and Patrick requested "Yankie Doodle" not exactly what the guys were playing for everyone else in the restaurant, but they did it and the kids were thrilled.
After our food, the kids got tokens to go shooting in the Gallery at the front of the store. Patrick has already told me that he wants to stop there every time we go up to visit.
